Arts At WinterCon III
We are glad to announce the WinterCon III Art Contests! [Rules in Latvian] [Rules in Russian]
This year, you will be able to participate in already well known competitions, such as "Cosplay portrait” and "One-hour thematic contest”, which will be held during the event. The winners will be awarded with diplomas and prizes during the Award Ceremony on the second day. We will also hold small 5-30 min contests, where the winners will be awarded on the spot. And there will be one mystery contest, so make sure to come by the art corner on both days to find out more!
Cosplay Portrait.
Time: up to 30 min.
The idea is to portray the character that is being cosplayed by an assigned person. The details of the outfit and the overall portrayal of the character must be emphasized in the finished work.
One-hour thematic contest.
The theme of the contest will not be revealed until the beginning. Any kind of drawing on the given theme is allowed. The completeness on the drawing plays a huge role in evaluation.
Of course, we will have a "Homework contest” as well. This time we offer you to unleash your imagination and create a work within the "An Unlikely Friend” theme. You can use your original characters, as well as movie, comic and anime heroes. The point of the drawing is to portray two or more characters that could become unlikely friends. Feel free to draw characters from different universes! *
Yet again we have another homework contest for you! You may draw a comic on a given topic. 3 pages minimum, the more the better. This time the topic is "My New Year’s Wishes”. You can use movie, comic, anime, cartoon, etc. characters* to portray your thoughts, as well as yourself in the drawings. The goal is to show us your biggest wishes and hopes for 2017. Bonus points if you also draw how to make them come true!
There is no definite format for the drawings, we accept everything created with pencils, paints, markers, crayons and also digital works (the participant will have to print it out before giving it to us).

*Please do write down your chosen characters on the back side, if they are your own characters, write a short backstory, so the judges can evaluate your artwork properly!
